My artwork is abstract but plant and seed forms make appearances throughout, as does the energy of wind and water. I am interested in resiliency, what it will look like and how we can create space for it. Regeneration and entropy are themes in my work. I'm interested in the seeds, the connections, the propensity of life to change and flow. But also the discord, the interruptions of pattern, and imbalance. My work reflects the giant shifts in flora, fauna, and climate happening right now. What survives will be the next baseline of life, the new starting points.

I often begin a piece by drawing with pencil or pen. I enjoy the directness, the immediacy. The lines range from automatic and energetic to slow, calm, meditative and repetitive. Pattern is often incorporated, either through a repeated drawn element or with linoleum block printing. This becomes a foundation to build off of or one that is broken down. Painting is layered on top in acrylic, gouache, or acrylic ink. At times I have a loose idea of what forms I want to include, and a palette in mind, but the process is an accumulative one, with calm areas layering over active ones, until a balance is achieved.
